The word on the street (well, from BriForum, actually) is that AppSense are working on something called “Project Acorn” which will bring Environment Manager to the Mac. This is a good thing – AppSense’s core products have been limited to Windows devices for some time now, so it’s good to see that alongside the acquisition of RAPSphere, there is a focus on moving their products onto a wider range of endpoints. Personally, I’d love to see them keep extending the operating systems they cover, so you could use the AppSense Management Suite to manage and secure things as diverse as Android tablets, Windows Embedded devices and even Ubuntu desktops.
The only drawback with this Project Acorn stuff is that I might actually have to learn how to use OSX 🙂 And then I wouldn’t be able to fob off all my friends with Mac issues any more!
