User Personalization is a great feature. But often, there are some users who don’t need it. Your support groups or systems administrators may need to log onto systems such as user PCs, XenApp servers, RDS servers and VDI machines and chances are they won’t have any need to save their Personalization settings. Excluding them also cuts down on database growth and streamlines the Personalization performance for other users.
By default, all users logging in are assigned a Personalization Group. If they don’t match the membership rules of any of the administrator-defined ones (or if there aren’t any defined), then they will end up in the Default Users group, which is a catch-all.
In order to exclude specific users, or more likely, specific groups, from Personalization, a new Personalization Group will need to be defined. Create it in the normal way, by right-clicking in the Groups section and choosing Add Personalization Group. Give it an intuitive name, such as No Personalization or Personalization Disabled. Once created, you must disable all the Personalization settings as shown in the screen shot below:-
Once this is done, define the required Membership Rules to capture the users who don’t need Personalization. Most enterprises use Active Directory security groups for this, as it mainly applies to support groups and/or administrators. Now they won’t receive any Personalization at all when they log in.
