When you are running the Environment Manager Debug tool, usually the last thing you want to see is an error, because the reason you are using the debugger is usually to resolve an error you’ve already experienced! However, sometimes when you run the debug tool, you may see the following message in the bottom bar of the GUI
The EM product registry does not exist. Cannot save until product is installed correctly.
There are two reasons you could be seeing this error:-
1. You aren’t running the EM Debug tool on an endpoint that actually has the User Virtualization Service/Environment Manager Agent installed
2. You are using the wrong version of the EM Debug tool for your environment
If the cause is (1), then the resolution is very simple, just run the tool on one of the correct client endpoints!
If the cause is (2), then you’ll need to contact AppSense support to get the right version of the debug tool sent to you. The previous article I did on using the EM Debug tool had a link to the 8.1 version of the tool. Now that the release version is 8.2, you may need to get an updated version in order for the debug tool to work correctly in your environment. Update – AppSense inform me the debug tool is now issued with the product software, starting with Environment Manager 8.1. Simply install Environment Manager Tools from the Products folder within the install media.
